CULTURE/SOCIETY: Poem about My Home State

My mom emailed this to me - as she now lives two states to the south! - OlderMusicGeek

It's winter in (my home state)
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At twenty-five below

Oh, how I love (my home state)
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut
Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave (my home state)
'Cause I'm frozen to the ground!!

It is currently 6:37 pm and we have a temperature of 62F/17C.

And this is the what we have from The National Weather Service...

URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE (MY HOME TOWN)
308 PM CST SUN MAR 2 2008
...MORE WINTER WEATHER TONIGHT...
.TEMPERATURES WILL DROP RAPIDLY THIS EVENING AS A COLD FRONT CONTINUES EAST ACROSS IOWA. FROM THE NORTHWEST TO SOUTHEAST...RAIN WILL CHANGE TO SLEET AND THEN SNOW.

THE WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM 9 PM THIS EVENING TO 6 AM CST MONDAY.

RAIN WILL SPREAD NORTHEAST ACROSS IOWA BY MID EVENING.

AFTER 9 PM...AS TEMPERATURES FALL BELOW FREEZING...EXPECT A COUPLE OF HOURS OF SLEET BEFORE THE PRECIPITATION CHANGES TO ALL SNOW. TWO TO FOUR INCHES OF SNOW AND SLEET SHOULD ACCUMULATE BEFORE THE SNOW ENDS BEFORE DAYBREAK MONDAY.

(MY TOWN AND TOWN NEAR ME) APPEAR LIKELY TO SEE SOME OF THE HEAVIER AMOUNTS WITH THIS EVENT. MUCH OF THE ACCUMULATION IS EXPECTED TO OCCUR IN ONLY A FEW HOURS...SO DRIVING CONDITIONS COULD DETERIORATE RAPIDLY.

NORTHWEST WINDS WILL INCREASE TO 15 TO 30 MPH AS THE SNOW FALLS... REDUCING VISIBILITIES TO A HALF MILE OR LESS...AND CAUSING SOME DRIFTING OF THE SNOW.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW OR SLEET WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.

We also have flood warnings due to the snow melting from the nice weather we had. :)

And as of 6:53pm, it is 35F/2C!

God, I love my home town and home state!
